In 1919, the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire, commenced planning a memorial to the men and women of London who paid the supreme sacrifice during the Great War.

With support of the Legion and other organizations, in 1925, it was decided to erect a smaller replica of the cenotaph standing in Whitehall, London, England.

On 10 November 1934, the Impressive structure was dedicated in the presence of hundreds of citizens, veterans, and permanent force troops.
