When Wilfred E. “Ted” Foster returned from the Great War, he started a tradition that continues to this day. To brighten Christmas Day for Veterans resident at the Parkwood Institute, he would purchase them gifts for delivery Christmas morning.

Given the expense of the many interested Veterans, the Legion offered financial support to help Ted with his noble mission. Following Ted’s death in 1979, the Legion formed a Committee to raise funds and continue with this beautiful Christmas tradition.
